Design Projects
River Table
The purpose of the project was to take Rove Concepts; an existing design company, and add a design to the current furniture brand. This is the river table using Italian Olive wood on the top, with Resin for the clear middle. The bottom is Walnut. This prototype conveys the aesthetic and design style of my intended company.
My Care 2.0
Working with the ICU at the U of A Stollery Children's Hospital, we were able to target issues of parents not being able to retain and organize information told by doctors. An app called My Care already existed, but had several flaws. Our redesign targeted these issues and made significant improvements in usability, customization and usefulness of the app.
SUB
With two potential objectives of the SUB redesign, the primary goal was to collect informed research to further evaluate an appropriate direction. Two potential objectives included a focus on the food court space with the other being a focus on accessibility throughout the entire main floor. Utilizing past data from students assessing the sustainability of the space, it was also essential to ensure the space either maintained or improved it’s UWELL rating. Through our collective research in fall 2021, our group identified the food court as the most pressing concern specifically within the realm of accessibility.
Concrete Table
The project was looking at taking concrete; which I researched in a previous project, and apply the material in a unique way to furniture. This coffee table uses concrete reinforced by fibers, that is bent throughout the drying process. The concrete is extremely coarse and strong, leaving a smooth finish. Creating a mould and the procedure to get the desired effect, required trial and error based on the mould design, and dry time based on thickness and portions of water and concrete powder.
